Erykah Badu Is Planning On Releasing Two Albums This Year | Music News

Neo-soul sorceress Erykah Badu continues to work at breakneck speed. Besides her collaborations with The Flaming Lips and her participation on the first album of Damon Albarn-led project Rocket Juice And The Moon, the Dallas artist is planning on releasing two new albums this year. One of those efforts, produced by Flying Lotus, as she stated last autumn when she appeared at the Red Bull Music Academy, will be the followup to 2010's New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh”. The second album will be the first of her new band The Cannabinoids, a project by Badu, keyboardist and producer Jah Born and musical director R.C. Williams.

Taking the effect marihuana has on the receptors in the brain as a starting point, Badu and her boys want to make a record the listener becomes “addicted” to. As no release date has been set for either title, we'll have to make do with the video below, in which we see The Cannabinoids at work in a Dallas studio.
