A few weeks ago, Forbes revealed their list of the five richest hip-hop artists. On number four, Bryan “Birdman” Williams, with a fortune estimated at 125 million dollars. What's he going to do with all that dosh? Well, among other things, a movie.
Birdman, co-founder of Cash Money Records, wants to start a new film division this year, under the name, yes, Cash Money Films. For now, two pictures are in the pipeline, one untitled as of yet, starring Omar Epps (“House”) and produced by Tracey Edmonds, and “Rich Gang”, starring the whole Cash Money gang. In a release to XXL, Baby said the following: “We start shooting that in the fall. That’s the whole team, that’s like a 2012 Balla Blocking. The Rich Gang movie is about the team. Everybody is going to be the star of it, but Wayne will be the center of it. It’s about the team, everybody that’s on the label.” When asked about whether it was going to be a documentary or a fictional story, Birdman commented: “I would like [the gang to] just be themselves. I’m not gonna tell no nigga to go to acting school. Just be yourself. We’re excited as a brand about it. Tyga, everybody is like, ‘Stunna, let’s do a movie.’ We got a few of them lined up and we gonna shoot them.”
Stunna also wants his collaborator, writer Wahida Clark, to adapt one of his books for the screen, adding that he didn't only take interest in her because of her fiction work, but also because he thinks she could write some interesting film scripts.
