Over the last month, Peaking Lights have been bringing us a series of mixtapes to pave the way for the release of “Lucifer”, their third long work. After the disco accent of the second volume, in the third the couple focuses on the more exuberant side of the 70s sound, offering a selection with plenty of airy textures and exotic flavours. The mix also includes an advance from their album (look for it around minute 32). Remember that the arrival of “Lucifer” is foreseen for 18th June via Mexican Summer/ Weird World.

Six months after being christened by Klaus, label R&S’s new series of mixes brings us its second instalment from Lone. The Englishman summarises some of his greatest influences over the course of a spotless 40-minute session - in which intelligent techno, acid house, boogie funk, and bass vibrations all cohabitate. It further reminds us that “Galaxy Garden” is right around the corner. We’re looking forward to it.

Kieran Hebden has just shared a new mix on his SoundCloud site. There is no tracklist available; but between the title (“Conference Of The Birds”), the synthetic birdsong of the opening, and the time footnote that we are offered as the only information (April 2012), it seems that Four Tet has focused this mix as his own particular “spring conspiracy”. As an interesting bonus, the mix includes two of Four Tet’s own previously-unreleased songs, which will come out in the near future on Text. Listen and download after the jump.

Rustie was the latest guest to BBC Radio 1’s series "Essential Mix". In his session, the Scottish prodigy once again displayed his colourful, hyperbolic perspective in two frenetic hours loaded down with fat synthesizers, sweaty beats, and arm-raising melodies. With his “DJ Kicks” recently landed, Brit Photek commemorates the golden age of English raves in his latest mix. As Rupert Parkes himself has explained, the session seeks to capture the spirit of “driving round the M25 to raves back in the day”. To do so, besides showing up loaded down with old-school classics, the session lasts exactly 45 minutes: what used to fit on one side of a cassette tape.

The ineffable Mike Paradinas, the brains of Planet Mu and a key figure in British electronic music for twenty years, has just delivered a very tasty DJ mix for Self-titled Mag. “3am Surfing Mix” is a stroll along Paradinas' broad tastes, guided by an adventurous, experimental spirit.
