Survival Lessons With Peaking Lights

Urban Outfitters produces the video for “Dreambeat

Artist: Peaking Lights

Record Label: Mexican Summer, Weird World

Genre: psych-pop...

The video for “Dreambeat”, the people appearing in it, with their carefree attitude and their way of spending the days of summer, hold many of the keys to the music of Peaking Lights. In the piece, races, social circles, and sexual options mix; the light of the day in the open air gives way to nights in clubs, evoking musical flavours that go from “Latinised” psychedelics to dub-disco, Nuyorican sounds and house rhythms from that part of the late 80s-early 90s scene that spawned voguing. Our bet is that Aaron Coyes' huge record collection has a thing or two to do with that.
