Ólafur Arnalds: The Inspiration For A New Work Of Animation

We're premièring the video for “Near Light”

Artist: Ólafur Arnalds

Record Label: Erased Tapes

Genre: piano, neo-classical, Modern Classical

The music of Icelandic Ólafur Arnalds has something; others find a source of inspiration in it, a reason to sit down and start creating. Two years ago, Arnalds used his social network to ask for creative contributions from his fans, all kinds of artwork inspired by his music. From that request came such beautiful pieces of work as the video for “Ljósið”. Something similar has happened again, only this time spontaneously. Lam Ho Tak, an animation artist based in Hong Kong, made a piece inspired by “Near Light”, one of the tracks on the recent Living Room Songs (Erased Tapes, 2011). We have the pleasure of premièring the video and, while we're at it, announcing the dates of Arnalds upcoming European tour. If you're thinking of going, check out his website: if you share the dates with your friends, you can win tickets to his shows.
