Dan Deacon

Surprise Stefani

Artist: Dan Deacon

It’s already two years ago that Carpark released “Bromst” by Dan Deacon, but the video for “Surprise Stefani” didn’t turn up until a few days ago. And it’s so good, it’s deserves a mention. Produced by Newfoundland Tack and directed by Andrew de Freitas and Mathieu Arsenault, the video re-creates a National Geographic-style documentary using only magazine clippings. The result of such meticulous work is almost moving, as apparently simple as it is extraordinarily exciting. The piece fits Deacon’s synthesised odyssey perfectly, taking us to a world that, even though it’s made of paper, is hugely emotive.
