Arcade Fire

The Suburbs (Zambri Remix)

Artist: Arcade Fire

Of all the remixes that have been sent to this office, the one of Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs” by the New York duo Zambri, is, without a doubt, one of the most bizarre and unexpected ones. The girls have pulled the Canadians’ pop anthem through their trademark electronic filter, noisy, hammering and with a certain tribal flavour, deconstructing it and leaving only a few pieces: Win Butler’s voice and some melody. The result is an amalgamation of twisted beats, enchanted synths, free-falling strings and squeezed samples, a dark and complicated thing that has nothing to do with the spirit of the original. “We are greatly humbled to share it,” say the girls on their blog. Now let’s hope the band like it, too..
