New Adventures By Blood Diamonds In The Company Of Grimes

Michael Tucker releases “Phone Sex” on 4AD

Artist: Grimes, Blood Diamonds

Record Label: 4AD

Genre: electronic pop

We heard of Blood Diamonds (real name Michael Tucker) because of his 7” last year on Transparent, featuring two tracks of dream-pop meets hybrid electronica (taking influences from witch house, 2-step, juke, and chill-wave). On his new delivery, Tucker becomes an aspiring (dance) pop hit machine, in the company of the restless Claire Boucher, alias Grimes. “Phone Sex” sounds cheesy at times, like a summer hit compilation, but still has its irrational charm. It is, in Grimes’ words, like “a K-pop version of 'We Found Love' by Rihanna.” Or: “our ultimate pop fantasy brought to life.”

The song will be out on 16th July (24th in the USA) on pink-coloured vinyl, featuring remixes by Unicorn Kid and Jensen Sportag.
