BBC Radio 1 premieres “Headphones”

Little Boots took the opportunity of a BBC Radio 1 interview to premiere a new song taken from her upcoming album, a second advance track after the deliciously 90s “Every Night I Say A Prayer”. This time it's “Headphones”, a friendly tribute to disco-pop with plenty “la-la-las”.

Young Moon, Synth-Pop For Broken Hearts

Listen to the ballad “Wind’s Light”

Trevor Montgomery works in San Francisco laying tiles, but at night he becomes Young Moon, a musical alter ego who writes songs with a nostalgic air. It’s a sort of synthetically-adorned folk-pop that is said to be heavily influenced by his personal experiences in childhood, and by the atmospheres of John Hughes’ films, which fascinated him when he was little. This is where “Wind’s Light” comes from, a ballad for broken hearts, with more of an air of twilight than night itself. In it, Montgomery offers a low vocal register, sorrowful, and at times almost desperate. This and other songs are included on his new album, “Navigated Like The Swan”, on sale from the 24th of July through Western Vinyl.

Johan Agebjörn and Le Prix remix “Days Don’t Fade”

New Yorkers Lindbergh Palace, tired of being just another synth-pop band, gave their old track “Days Don’t Fade” (originally released two years ago on their self-titled EP) to Johan Agebjörn and Le Prix, so that they could give it the 80s varnish and Italo halo they use for their own productions. The result is, without a doubt, much more exciting and addictive than the original.

Elite Gymnastics, Sort Of Underworld (Or Almost)

Listen to “Life/Trip”, the first cut from “Ruin 4”

Minneapolis duo Elite Gymnastics continue to dig into 90s dance music to put together their new songs. Now they bring us “Life/Trap”, which reminds us a great deal of those fascinating forays influenced by drum 'n' bass that Underworld made in their heyday (even the voice is similar to that of Karl Hyde, although it’s more hidden here). The song is included on “Ruin 4”, already on sale through Acéphale in a collector’s edition that, besides the CD, also includes a t-shirt, a poster, and badges.

First Extract Of The High Head Remix Of Joy Orbison's “Ellipsis”

Listen to a radio rip

Joy Orbison's “Ellipsis” is one of the hits of the past few months. It will be out soon, but in the meantime we managed to get hold of an extract of the remix High Head (alias Shed) made of the tune; featured on the B-side of the single. It's only two minutes, taken from Jackmaster's recent set on Rinse, but it's enough to know the remix is as good as the original. “Ellipsis” will be out on 21st May, on Hinge Finger.
