Little Boots took the opportunity of a BBC Radio 1 interview to premiere a new song taken from her upcoming album, a second advance track after the deliciously 90s “Every Night I Say A Prayer”. This time it's “Headphones”, a friendly tribute to disco-pop with plenty “la-la-las”.
“Fast cars, money, but no record label to truly call my own?” That's how Julio Bashmore introduces Broadwalk Records, his new label. To kick off his new adventure, the Bristol producer will release “Au Seve”, an astonishing track that “heralds a new era in the Julio Bashmore chronicles, with a sound that shall echo through the ages…” Due out on 2nd June, it sounds like an instant classic.
Lemonade are back at our door with a double feature. On one side, they're debuting a video for “Neptune”, the first advance track from their upcoming album, “Diver”, due out on 29th May via True Panther. The camera shows a beautiful girl with yellow-painted nails (maybe a nod to the band name), in the shower. We also leave you with “Softkiss”, another track from the album.
Would you be able to condense every image that had an impact on your life in less than four minutes? New Yorkers MS MR try to, at least, in the video for “Hurricane”, with a string of images that go from films like “Edward Scissorhands” to vintage ads and clippings of audio-visual icons such as MTV. After pressing play, we understand perfectly why the duo likes to define their sound as “tumblr glitch pop”. If you like what you hear, you can download the track here, in exchange for your email address.
In order to put images to “Toldyall”, the second cut from the recent “Memory” (Monkeytown, 2012) by Lazer Sword, Portuguese director Miguel Bidarra edited fragments of Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt's audiovisual “20 Hz” installation for the “Campos Invisibles” expo at the Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona. The images are the representation of a geo-magnetic storm in the upper atmosphere, and along with the San Francisco duo’s galactic composition, they make for a hypnotic experience, abstract and suggestive.
Berlin based Turkish producer Tolga Fidan will release his next album on 21st May, via Vakant. Entitled “Rogue”, Fidan says the record was made over ten weeks of intense work in his living room. Here we leave you with its first extract, the oneiric “Fairwell 22”.
New Yorkers Lindbergh Palace, tired of being just another synth-pop band, gave their old track “Days Don’t Fade” (originally released two years ago on their self-titled EP) to Johan Agebjörn and Le Prix, so that they could give it the 80s varnish and Italo halo they use for their own productions. The result is, without a doubt, much more exciting and addictive than the original.
The crew at Mad Decent are still championing new names in frenzied sound. This time the debut is for a Brooklyn man named Baauer, a lover of those stirring rhythms that use the new seeds of hip hop and dancehall to put out bangers that are going to make you shake your booty whether you want to our not. For a sample, listen to “Harlem Shake” and “Yaow!”.
