The Golden Filter are a New York duo formed by Australian Penelope Trapps and Stephen Hindman, who met a year earlier when they were neighbours and formed another band, Lismore. Based in New York, they released their debut single, “Solid Gold”, in February 2009 on Dummy Records, a song included by A-Trak on his DJ mix “Infinity+1”. After playing at SXSW that year and touring with The Presets, they started working on their first LP, “Voluspa”, released by Brille Records in April 2010. It is a concept album based on a poem from the Nordic mythology about the creation of the world and its ultimate destruction. In October 2011 their second album was released, “Syndromes”, on CD+DVD, featuring a ten-minute short film by Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli. It came out on Perfectly Isolated, their own label. They have also done remixes for the likes of Empire Of The Sun, Little Boots, Yeasayer, Peter Bjorn and John and Cut Copy.
