Tom Jenkinson (born in 1975), better known as Squarepusher, is a British electronic music producer. He's known for his drum'n'bass, acid and IDM tracks. Currently he's signed to Warp Records. He is the brother of electronic musician Andy Jenkinson, alias Ceephax Acid Crew. Jenkinson hails from Chelmsford, Essex; his mother was a jazz drummer. In school, he was educated as a drummer and bass player. In the early nineties he got involved with electronic music thanks to the emerging techno and breakbeat scene. He started producing jungle incorporating many influences from jazz, making extremely complex rhythmic patterns. His brand of drum'n'bass mixed with IDM is often referred to as drill'n'bass. In 1996 he released his debut album, “Feed Me Weird Things”, on Rephlex, under the wings of Aphex Twin, who wrote the liner notes of the record. In 1997 he signed a contract with Warp, and he has since released ten albums and a string of EPs. Live, he plays a fretless bass guitar, laptop, piano and a variety of synthesisers.
