Peaking Lights are an American experimental pop duo - formed by the couple Indra Dunis and Aaron Coyes - currently based in Madison, Wisconsin. They are known for their repertoire combining influences from pop, dub, reggae, Kraut-rock and psychedelia with a lo-fi sound. They met in 2006 in San Francisco, California. They soon started to date and make music in the drone band Rahdunes. A few years later, they got married and moved to Madison. There they started with Peaking Lights, as well as opening a store selling records and vintage clothing. Their first release was a split EP with The Second Family Band and Jooklo Duo, on Earjerk Records. Their first album, “Imaginary Falcons”, came out in 2009. In 2011 they rose to fame with “936”, released on Not Not Fun. The LP - with a more concrete, clearer sound than its predecessor - was critically acclaimed and listed by several magazines as among the best albums of the year. In September 2011, Domino signed Peaking Lights for their sub-label Weird World and reissued “936” in Europe.
