Machinedrum is the stage name of Travis Stewart, an American electronic music producer from Brooklyn, now based in Berlin. He has been releasing music under different names since 1999 and is part of dubstep duo Sepalcure, with his friend Praveen Sharma. He made his debut as Machinedrum in 2001 with the album “Now You Know” on Miami label Merck Records. The record landed him a major reputation on the IDM scene. On his releases, Stewart combines influences from a variety of styles, among which are hooky electronica, ambient, down-tempo and hip-hop. In 2010 his sound changed with the release of the EP “Many Faces” on Scottish label LuckyMe, with a ruder, more energetic sound influenced by dubstep and the emerging footwork sound from Chicago. In 2011 he signed with British label Planet Mu for his album “Room(s)”, on which he confirmed the style change towards more hardcore-rave territory. In 2011 he also released an album with Sepalcure, on Hotflush.
