Matt Cutler, better known as Lone, is an electronic music producer from Nottingham, based in Manchester. Before starting out as Lone, Cutler was part of the duo Kids In Tracksuits. He also recorded music with Keaver & Brause under the name Kona Triangle. He is the owner of Magic Wire Recordings.
He started producing music in his bedroom in his teens, experimenting with genres like hip-hop, old school hardcore, techno and IDM. Some of the artist that have influenced him are Boards Of Canada, Madlib and Bibio. In 2008 he made his debut with the album “Lemurian”, with a sound that was a crossover between instrumental hip-hop and ambient. In 2009 he released “Ecstasy & Friends” on Werk Discs, and in 2010 his single “Once In A While / Raptured” (also on Werk) indicated a change in his sound, incorporating dance rhythms and emphasising the nineties hardcore influence. This style change was confirmed on the EPs “Pinneaple Crush” on Magic Wire and “Echolocations EP” on R&S Records. In 2010 he released his third LP, “Emerald Fantasy Tracks”. He has also remixed tracks by artists like Solar Bears, Chilly Gonzales, Radiohead and Steffi.
