jj are a duo formed by Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander. In 2009 they released the debut single, “jj no. 1”, on Scandinavian label Sincerely Yours. The single was a success and a few months later their first album, “jj no. 2” came out. Late 2009 they announced that they would sign with Secretly Canadian for their international releases. In March 2010 their second LP, “jj no. 3” was released, this time with a lukewarm reception. As a Christmas present, they released the free mix-tape “Kills”, revealing the bands cautious move from the dream-pop and Balearic sounds of their first recordings towards hip-hop. This was mainly illustrated by their use of samples from artists like Akon, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. They collaborated With Ne–Yo on “We Can’t Stop”, a track for the Adult Swim Singles Program 2011.
