Jimmy Edgar is an American electronic musician from Detroit, currently residing in Berlin. He started experimenting with music at the age of 10, influenced by styles like jazz, funk and R&B. He started drumming in experimental bands and recording tracks on cassette, and when he was 15 he started playing at raves in and around Detroit. In 2001 he signed a contract with Warp. Prior to that, he had released music on labels like Merck Records and Isophlux, using different monikers, such as Morris Nightingale and Kristuit Salu. In 2006 he released his first album on Warp, “Color Strip”, focussing on electro-funk and IDM. In 2010 came the follow up, “XXX”, on !K7. Edgar also works as a photographer, and has published work in magazines like H Magazine, Spot, Urb and Blink.
