Jack Revill, aka Jackmaster, was born in Glasgow in 1986. He is a DJ known for his eclectic sets and for being one of the few British DJs to rise to fame without actually releasing any music of his own. He is the co-founder of the Numbers label. In his teen years, Revill started to get interested in electronic music, house in particular, on labels like Subliminal and Defected. When he was fourteen he started working in the Rubadub store in Glasgow, as a work experience placement from school. While working at the store, he heard Model 500's “The Chase” and was fascinated. He started to get interested in Detroit techno and electro.
His musical education was furthered by visits to clubs like Club 69 in Glasgow. At the time, Revill and his friend Calum Morton, alias DJ Spencer, used to organise parties and spin records in small bars around town. In 2007, Jackmaster founded the label Dress 2 Sweat, focussing on the Baltimore sound and signing artists like Rustie, Bok Bok and Piddy Py. In 2008 he founded the Wireblock imprint, alongside Calum and Neil Morton. Late 2009, Dress 2 Sweat, Wireblock and Stuffrecords joined forces to form Numbers. In May 2011, Jackmaster released the mix CD “FabricLive 57”. At present, apart from his work as as a DJ, he is still working at Rubadub.
