The history of “Dancehall Queen” began over a year ago with a music video. Broadcasted on Mad Decent’s YouTube channel, it showcased Robyn and Diplo working together in the Studio on this tracks that would later be included on “Body Talk Pt. 1”and again on the trilogy’s third release. The cycle closes today with the song’s official video, made jointly by the American producer and the folks of Pomp&Clout. To the recurrent use of old VHS material, analog-era effects and low-quality archive images, now they’ve added the lyrics as subtitles. The result is not very different from those low-budgeted, overacted karaoke videos. Will “Dancehall Queen” end up becoming a hit in open-micro musical bars?
