Their name says it all: the heart of Retro/Grade beats to the rhythm of their revisionist drive. Serge Santiago and Tom Neville have been working together for five years, in that grey area where disco music started to trust technological efficiency, using dry rhythm boxes and galactic synthesisers to end up encouraging the advent of house music. With just two singles in the marketplace, Retro/Grade’s modern day Italo disco has conquered the hearts of Erol Alkan, Groove Armada, Simian Mobile Disco and Goldfrapp (they’ll be touring the UK with the latter in November). Their debut album, scheduled for release in early 2011, promises to leave it’s mark on the dance floor. “Escape Sequence” is the second single off the album. Out now via Deconstruction Records.
