Gum: A New Dose Of Shoegaze-Pop From London
The quartet debut with “Cherryade”
Gum are a promising London quartet who've just made their debut with “ Cherryade”, a track included on “ Family Portrait”, a 7” split single shared with Playlounge, Joanna Gruesome and Keel Her, available for pre-order here. Their pop is candid and heavily influenced by shoegaze, featuring waves of chromatic noise in the vein of My Bloody Valentine, connecting the dots between 90s bands like Lilys and Drop Nineteens with contemporary groups like Yuck and Veronica Falls. We leave you with the video for the piece, made up of footage from Czech surrealist director Jan Švankmajer's “Alice”.
