Matthew Dear

Rather than starting fires - or stoking them up - the video of “Slowdance” seems to want to stop them. It’s a new change of cycle for Matthew Dear, a new page. It’s been a year since the release of “Black City” (Ghostly, 2010), four months since the single “Slowdance” (which was announced as the last and definitive release related to his third album). Matthew is most likely more occupied now with whatever his new project is. That's why these images almost work like a memory, like a window looking out on moments past. Director Charles Bergquist turns the piece's gothic romanticism in a collage that reflects the troubles of memory. “She, the environment shared, and the unknown becomes blended, fractured and infinitely heaped together” to the rhythm of “Slowdance”.
