Clouds Over The Pacific
Who would have said it was Peanut Butter Wolf, the Stones Throw boss, who discovered James Pants, now that we’ve heard “Clouds Over The Pacific”, one of the tracks on his third album for the label. The Spokane artist has made a precious piece of sweet synth-pop, with staccato strings and shoegaze clouds that could be reminiscent of... Owen Pallett? Yes, it’s surprising, especially coming from a man who so far has been manufacturing patterns of 1001 eighties styles - disco, electro, new wave-ish synth-pop, boogie soul and early rap. This could be an even broader horizon for the new record, available as of today.
