A few weeks ago, the folks over at the blog Strangers in Stereo sat down with South Carolinian Noah Smith, aka Hard Mix, with the idea that he would direct the second volume in a series of mixtapes, still in its ripening stage. The talented and very lovely Smith took advantage of the situation, seeing it as an incentive to sit down in front of his synths and samples. He created a new track over two days which is like a personal condiment for the stew that reflects those nostalgic feelings summer can awaken. That’s where “ Memories” comes from, a model of melancholy with hints of glo-fi pop electronica. It will also feature on “Weirdly Different”, Hard Mix’s debut album, to be released at the beginning of autumn.
