This isn’t materialistic and testosterone-laden rap, nor is it metrosexual, backpack or “Hashtag” rap (how Kanye has christened what he pejoratively considers hip hop’s “trendy” faction). The relaxed and sleepy to the point of hungover flow of London’s MC Ghostpoet finds it’s own echo on the opposite side. “Cash and Carry Me Home” is another example of Ghostpoet’s great talent for day-to-day storytelling. The song, in which he talks about love misunderstandings, solitude, confusion and guilt, is the first single taken from “Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam”, to be released on 7th February via Brownswood. A very promising release.
