In spite of the Germanic sound of its stage name, the music of Die Jungen comes to us from Southampton. That is where Klaus Von Barrel is based, a multitasking musician whom you might know for his project The KGV, more focused on cold wave sounds. But Die Jungen is aimed more at the organic sound of that low-fi, evocative retro-current pop that has been making such a splash lately. After a handful of singles sprinkled out here and there, now comes “At Breath’s End,” his debut album, which Portuguese label LebensStrasse Records will have in the shops on the 27th of February. For the time being, they’re serving us up the opening song, “ I Pray to You,” a deliciously ramshackle song with a noticeably Spector influence.
