In less than eighteen months, the hardworking team of the Lefse label has managed to position their brand among the most notorious of the American independent scene thanks to such celebrated debuts as those from Neon Indian, Houses and How To Dress Well. Add to this list the name Bikini, a two-headed project (Nigel Diamond and Olivier Olivier) who have been described as “Salinger on MDMA”. If what they say is true, their working process is curious to say the least: Olivier writes the lyrics and thinks of the melodies at the beginning of autumn every year. He records the vocal parts without music or titles and then he sends it all to Diamond, who’s responsible for then devising the music. Once the latter has added all the arrangements, synths and rhythms, the songs are mastered without Olivier’s prior approval. That mutual blind confidence produces songs like “American Mourning”, the second cut on “RIPJDS”. This EP is already available digitally. The physical format will hit stores as of 23rd November.
