Yesterday, “WANDER/ WONDER” (Tri Angle, 2011) was released - the much-anticipated debut album by Balam Acab. As expected, we got an album of fragile beauty - going ever deeper into the humid and candid sound that already marvelled us on “See Birds” (Tri Angle, 2010). The album may not be as magic as that first release, but it does confirm that young Alec Koone has shaped a sound that is as visceral and enchanting as it is personal and unique. You can listen to the album thanks to the good people of NPR. As an appetiser, here's the very appropriate fan-made video of “Welcome”, the album opener. Lights and shadows for a warrior soul.
