Young Moon, Synth-Pop For Broken Hearts

Listen to the ballad “Wind’s Light”

Trevor Montgomery works in San Francisco laying tiles, but at night he becomes Young Moon, a musical alter ego who writes songs with a nostalgic air. It’s a sort of synthetically-adorned folk-pop that is said to be heavily influenced by his personal experiences in childhood, and by the atmospheres of John Hughes’ films, which fascinated him when he was little. This is where “ Wind’s Light” comes from, a ballad for broken hearts, with more of an air of twilight than night itself. In it, Montgomery offers a low vocal register, sorrowful, and at times almost desperate. This and other songs are included on his new album, “Navigated Like The Swan”, on sale from the 24th of July through Western Vinyl.
