We offer you exclusively the chance to listen to the remix project of Guillamino’s last album, “Fang” - in which artists like Aster, Cauto, The Suicide Of Western Culture, Za! and Niño have participated.
For the last few seasons, Guillamino’s musical language has been more electronic than acoustic; despite the fact that in the beginning, during the period of “Atzavara”, he presented himself as coming to bring new life to folk-pop in Catalan. But his visits to the gym (from which came the EP “Whip Gymnastix”, a classic of rural spinning), his curious search through the sale racks of second-hand shops and a first contact with drum-machines led him little by little on a one-way trip down the garden path towards an electro-folk hybrid. His work became increasingly instrumental and abstract starting with “Les Minves De Gener”, shot through with fat beats. It's now reaching its culmination in the 12” “Left In The Wild 3 New Flavors”, an EP including remixes signed by Jacques Greene, Pepepe and Esteban Adame. Because of this trend, his album from last year, “Fang” (BankRobber, 2011) - where Guillamino again sang with more conviction and fomented an acoustic-machine hybrid - was an unexpected surprise.
Now, Pau Guillamet is back with his clubber obsessions - 2step, garage and sweaty house alongside greasy bass - with a project titled “Seximer Gnaf”, which if you read it backwards, spells out an unmistakable message: ‘Fang Remixes’. Guillamino contacted ten artists from the Barcelona scene, or close to it - such as Niño, Aster, Za!, Cauto, The Suicide Of Western Culture and Headbirds - and he asked each one for a remix, following the original order of the cuts on “Fang”, just a year after the LP went on sale. Today you can hear the result in its entirety here; an exclusive stream, with song-by-song comments from Guillamino himself. Also, take note: “Seximer Gnaf” is not only a pre-listening exercise, it is also a party. 5. Dorm Nena - Els Surfing Sirles (Bo Diddley Montllor Remake)
An attack perpetrated by a handful of bad sleepers. An eternal hangover, insomnia, and a bad mood at the end of a party. Shut up in a garage as if it were always the weekend.
6. Salvar-nos - Fatkut (Remix)
Total transformation of this danceable ballad in a parallel R&B universe. Once again, a lot of space, water, plasticity, shine, and solidity.
