Guillamino: The Remixes of “Fang” In Streaming

Our exclusive release of “Seximer Gnaf”, a project in which 10 Spanish artists remix the Catalan producer’s latest album

We offer you exclusively the chance to listen to the remix project of Guillamino’s last album, “Fang” - in which artists like Aster, Cauto, The Suicide Of Western Culture, Za! and Niño have participated.

For the last few seasons, Guillamino’s musical language has been more electronic than acoustic; despite the fact that in the beginning, during the period of “Atzavara”, he presented himself as coming to bring new life to folk-pop in Catalan. But his visits to the gym (from which came the EP “Whip Gymnastix”, a classic of rural spinning), his curious search through the sale racks of second-hand shops and a first contact with drum-machines led him little by little on a one-way trip down the garden path towards an electro-folk hybrid. His work became increasingly instrumental and abstract starting with “Les Minves De Gener”, shot through with fat beats. It's now reaching its culmination in the 12” “Left In The Wild 3 New Flavors”, an EP including remixes signed by Jacques Greene, Pepepe and Esteban Adame. Because of this trend, his album from last year, “Fang” (BankRobber, 2011) - where Guillamino again sang with more conviction and fomented an acoustic-machine hybrid - was an unexpected surprise.

Now, Pau Guillamet is back with his clubber obsessions - 2step, garage and sweaty house alongside greasy bass - with a project titled “Seximer Gnaf”, which if you read it backwards, spells out an unmistakable message: ‘Fang Remixes’. Guillamino contacted ten artists from the Barcelona scene, or close to it - such as Niño, Aster, Za!, Cauto, The Suicide Of Western Culture and Headbirds - and he asked each one for a remix, following the original order of the cuts on “Fang”, just a year after the LP went on sale. Today you can hear the result in its entirety here; an exclusive stream, with song-by-song comments from Guillamino himself. Also, take note: “Seximer Gnaf” is not only a pre-listening exercise, it is also a party. It's a double event that will be held tonight at 9 pm.he Antigua Fábrica Damm in Barcelona; along with Mina Tindle acoustic, and with a continuation at Apolo’s La [2], for Boombox night, where there will be a DJ session featuring some of the album’s re-mixers. Guillamino is on fire.

1. Fer Foc - Headbirds (Make Fayer Remix)

It captures the vocal and emotional essential of the original, widening the space horizontally and towards the subsoil. A lot of space!

2. Fang Fosc - Cardova (Fang Fosc Remake)

A re-harmonisation with equal parts of funk and pop. A reverse plastic surgery operation without health guarantees: take out botox and put in meat.

3. Telepath Lover - Cauto (Remenat)

A chain of Cauto’s trademark melodic hooks, a double ration of sub-bass, and a lot of interstellar space dust for brilliance.

4. Natura Morta - Aster (Nocturn Mix)

It has the same pathos as the original, but a late-night version of it. Long runs, dark corners, and a damn large night-time sun.

5. Dorm Nena - Els Surfing Sirles (Bo Diddley Montllor Remake)

An attack perpetrated by a handful of bad sleepers. An eternal hangover, insomnia, and a bad mood at the end of a party. Shut up in a garage as if it were always the weekend.

6. Salvar-nos - Fatkut (Remix)

Total transformation of this danceable ballad in a parallel R&B universe. Once again, a lot of space, water, plasticity, shine, and solidity.

7. Help Me - Za! (WananaHelpMe Remix)

As if there were 4 hands DJ-ing, but with a drum and a keyboard. A cut & scratch version of these two baroque mix-masters, distorted and always tropical. Piñacolada!

8. Half-a-romeo - Niño Remix

Capturing the R&B gangsterish style of the original (shit is nasty) and sculpted using autotune. Masters of the universe with a chick’s voice.

9. Kiss In Cheek - We Like Turtles (Baixline Remix)

The most testosterone-inflated UK-Garage grown in Barcelona. Chrome-plated pianos with ailerons and lots and lots of bass line. It’s meant for asking oneself exactly what cheek this kiss is really on.

10. Viratge - The Suicide Of Western Culture (Remix)

The suicidal duo’s sharp turn and intense trip. Clouds that go on a one-way trip to the end: A phrase like a reactor that takes off with acid diesel, ’88 brut and grand reserve.
