2. Single Malt Scotch WhiskyThe Scots have this art form down better than anyone else on the planet, although I love Irish, American and Japanese whisk(e)y too. Some favourite distillers include Springbank, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Dalwhinnie, Balvenie, Glenlossie, Highland Park, Talisker, Bruichladdich... but there are so many I've never tried. But to be honest, Wales' Penderyn distillery does a magnificent drop. I usually drink whisky neat or with a few drops of water. Bourbon I tend to drink with ice. To each his own, as long as you don't top it up with cola.
3. ChampagneIf I could afford it, I'd drink this at least weekly. Champagne is underrated. Underrated in the sense that although it's a popular drink and a cliche of the rich, I rarely hear people wax lyrical about it. Champagne-drunk is also more divine than other types of drunkenness, it makes you high. Last time I got drunk on champagne it made me put on a Scott Walker LP, dress up in a striped wool blazer, baggy navy woollen trousers, light grey oxford shoes, a pale blue silk tie with matching cuff links and proceeded to my local pub looking like a 1940s oxford pimp. No other drink could do that to me, and perhaps no other LP could either.
