A long time has gone by since Ada gave signs of (artistic) life. Her debut album, “Blondie”, on which she took the German minimal techno of the time to pop territory (the Hamburg answer to the Cologne sound), was released in 2004. Ever since, she’s been keeping herself busy with remixes, and the occasional single and in 2009 she came out with an album, “Adaptations Mixtape #1”, on Kompakt, full of her own and other people’s remixes. Now, her second album has arrived. So much time had gone by that we’d almost forgotten about Ada, but no: “Meine Zarte Pfoten”, released on Pampa Records (DJ Koze’s label), shows the enchanting as ever Michaela Dippel moving skilfully between sophisticated tech-house and almost acoustic folk in the vein of Everything But The Girl. To celebrate the release of the album, Ada gave us a list of her favourite eighties films. A nostalgic’s heaven.
